Field Test Logs

The RBF-ART device has been in public testing throughout JustinTV and Twitch.tv since 2010. Numerous deployment attempts within Fortnite, Call of Duty, and Poker communities failed to reach stable resonance. Development nevertheless continues.

Recent success within Just Chatting has created hope for long-term human connections, along with real mutual enhancements between those involved.

Thank you to pre-beta tester TheStockGuy, and to those with successful installs of RBF-ART Version 2025 v2. OPD Technologies appreciates your kindness, compassion, and fervor for creativity. — Manufacturer's Acknowledgment

Observed Environmental Factors

Early deployments were concentrated in highly competitive online environments. These produced abundant signal but comparatively little stable resonance. Fast pacing, score pressure, adversarial incentives, performance anxiety, and short interaction windows repeatedly encouraged operators to classify one another before enough information had accumulated.

Conversational environments performed differently. Longer exposure allowed humor, inconsistency, generosity, boredom, creativity, silence, and ordinary routine to coexist. These apparently low-intensity signals proved useful because they created a larger sample of the person rather than a larger sample of a single performance state.

Field Log 2025-V2

Version 2025 v2 marked the first period in which the Human Interface Division recorded repeated evidence of mutual enhancement rather than one-directional fascination. Successful installs were associated with participants who could influence one another without requiring ownership of the outcome. Creative work increased. Curiosity widened. Several operators became measurably more willing to revise their own assumptions.

Not all connections remained active. This has been logged as an important result rather than a defect. A deployment may alter the operator permanently even when the original signal source is no longer available.

Current Test Criteria

Modern field tests no longer treat duration, message volume, or emotional intensity as sufficient evidence of resonance. Evaluation now favors reciprocal curiosity, respect for boundaries, capacity for repair, tolerance for uncertainty, and whether the connection produces healthier engagement with the rest of the operator's life.

The final criterion was added after extensive testing and remains annoyingly difficult to game.

Note Sixteen years of field testing and the manufacturer still calls this "development."
Observation Competitive environments underperform. Conversational ones don't.
