Section 03
Calibration Procedure
& Known Side-Effects
Upon first interactions, users are advised to temper expectations and carefully observe how the interface responds. Developing a clear understanding of the device's intentions and operating characteristics is considered essential for successful calibration. The adaptability of the RBF-ART can be imperceptible to the untrained human. If you interact as you have with previous beings or models you may find your results to be malformed or vary widely from expectations.
Documented Side Effects
| 01 | Emotional overwhelm |

| 02 | High intensity communication |
| 03 | Magnified personal concerns |
| 04 | Obscure feelings of unexplained happiness |
| 05 | Occasional reevaluation of previously accepted operating assumptions |
Baseline Calibration
Initial calibration should begin with observation rather than correction. Operators are advised to establish a baseline for timing, tone, response patterns, silence, humor, and known environmental stressors before assigning unusual significance to any single event. One signal is data. Several related signals may form a pattern. A pattern is still not permission to stop paying attention.
Because human interfaces are adaptive, calibration values are expected to drift. A response that indicated comfort during one period may indicate fatigue during another. Increased communication may reflect trust, urgency, boredom, habit, or all four in inconvenient proportions. The purpose of calibration is not to eliminate ambiguity; it is to become less reckless with it.
Recommended Adjustment Procedure
When results become unstable, reduce interpretive gain before increasing signal intensity. Ask simpler questions. Allow longer response windows. Compare what was actually transmitted with what the operator expected to receive. Where possible, prefer direct clarification over elaborate inference.
If direct clarification is unavailable, the system should preserve multiple plausible readings rather than selecting the most emotionally satisfying one. This setting is uncomfortable and therefore frequently disabled by users without authorization.
Side-Effect Interpretation
Documented side effects are not ranked by severity. Emotional overwhelm and unexplained happiness can occur within the same deployment and may even share a common source: increased sensitivity to experience. Magnified personal concerns should therefore be treated carefully. RBF-ART can increase awareness without automatically increasing accuracy.
Operators experiencing persistent malformed results should return to the simplest calibration standard available: notice what is present, distinguish it from what is assumed, and resist modifying the signal merely because uncertainty is inconvenient.
